No Annual Fall Meeting for the NISPPAC
The National Industrial Security Program Policy Advisory Committee (NISPPAC) is comprised of 16 government agencies and 8 appointed private industry representatives chosen for their industrial security expertise and leadership. The purpose of the meetings is to communicate policy changes, implementation guidance, and what the impacts are on industry as seen from the ground level. It also provides government agencies with the opportunity to brief industry on performance workload metrics and the latest updates.
The NISPPAC usually meets two to three times a year (trending back to 2015) to discuss national security information protection policies and progress on current changes and reforms. The last meeting was held in May 2025, yet here we are in December and no fall meeting was held or even scheduled. Perhaps the government shutdown has something to do with it, but its meetings seem to have fallen off the radar.
The Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency (DCSA) is responsible for oversight of the NISPPAC and provides the “Lion’s Share” of the performance metrics — since DCSA is responsible for 95% of the background investigation processing for the government and runs the IT systems (NBIS/DISS) used by industry. DCSA also has stood up multiple working groups to address specific areas for data collections and process improvements. With all of the security clearance reforms that were in the process of implementation one would think that the NISPPAC would have met to provide industry security professionals with the latest metrics, policy updates, and implementation guidance. Hopefully soon!
